Picture heavy post - I'm not sure why people write this, but I feel as though I should too..!? Feel free to inform me!

You may have seen my recent vlog of the AKA Cosmetics Launch Event, my first ever event (if you haven't seen it yet, click here! Please be nice, it's my first ever video!). I took plenty of photos at the event for ze blog too, as if you're anything like me I love a good nosey at new products / events - exciting things in general!

I won't got into great detail about the event, as I talk about it in this video! But I did receive a brilliant goodie bag, which I have already delved into... and there is one product in particular that I love, the blush! I'll blog about it soon! Everyone was so friendly, it was brilliant to see the products and try them out (courtesy of make up artists and nail technicians). There were plenty of free canapes and cocktails on offer too! It was great to try out affordable products from an exciting new brand! Anyhow, I hope you enjoy these photos and I hope your Monday hasn't been too stressful!

Ps. I'm sure most of you will despise me for saying this, but the heat is really hindering my life right now! My room is in the attic, so it gets extremely hot and sauna-like - not ideal conditions for my life at the moment, which basically consists of revision and eating chocolate (boo - half melted chocolate!). Also apologies for any upcoming lack of posts - I'm really struggling with the module I'm currently revising for so I'm having a bit of a panic!

I've come accross so many people who have no idea what I'm talking about when I mention the classifieds section of fashion magazines. In my eyes, they're completely missing out on spotting brilliant bargain websites for clothes and shoes, but moreover, they're missing out on discount codes! In all honesty, I will rarely buy something online unless I have a voucher /discount code, as I'm not ashamed to admitt being one of the worlds most fashion-frugal (cheapskate) students.

Some of my friends can afford to spend £50 a week of their student loans on a single dress in Topshop. I can't - and to be honest it doesn't bother me as I feel better finding little-known brands or shops on the internet who sell similar clothing for a fraction of the price. Most of these shops I've discovered in the back pages of magazines, amongst the section where you often find plastic surgery ads, which I'm sure many people just flick past (I hope)!

The photos here show Look magazine, which has a section called the Look Directory. These two pages are filled with online shops! Often within their ads they include a discount code. In my experience this can be anything from free delivery or ten percent off, up to 40% off! Most fashion realated magazines have similar sections. Obviously, this is a way for lesser-known brands to build their customers, but it's also a great opportunity for us shoppaholics to snap up some brilliant deals and to have a look at some interesting, new online fashion stores.

Next time you pick up a magazine, have a look at the classifieds if you're a bargain shopper like me - soon the classifieds section will be the most loved pages of your mags!

Ps. I haven't shared the discount codes as I don't know if I'm allowed to?! So if you want one, tweet me! (@RobynMayday)

So, it's been a while since I've done a beauty post. It seems the ideal time to be writing one now as I'm procrastinating - revision is mind numbing but, of course, unfortunately inevitable (at some point...) if I want to pass this year!

I took a few photos after filming the intro for my recent vlog vlog as wore my NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Tokyo in the video. Yes, I have already posted a proper review here... but I didn't post photos of me wearing the product, which is personally something that I like to see in reviews!

A quick update on the review - exfoliation seems key with this product! Unfortunately any dry bits of skin, or unevenness will stick out like a sore... bit of skin?!  I love the look of matte lips, but this probably isn't the best formula if your lips have a tendency to be cracked / dry /flaky. I only use the lip cream when I can be bothered to exfoliate (ie. not often). I think Tokyo is a lovely colour though, I think it suits my pale skin pretty well!

I find that the formula wears off pretty quickly especially for a matte product - bit of a shame, but it's fine as long as you're not fussed about having to reapply or check up on your lipstick every hour or so. Personally I don't find it an issue, as long as it's a day where I have time to do it!

Off I go to continue the dreaded revision....

ps. This is my 50th blog post, wooo!
I attended my first ever event on Thursday, which was the launch party for AKA Cosmetics. It was such a great experience and as it was the first time I'd been to anything like this I wanted to vlog my experience! The video isn't perfect and nor is the quality, but I hope it is somewhat entertaining or interesting!

I'll be reviewing the products I received soon and I'll do a post with some pictures of the event too!

 Jumper - Urban Outfitters
Shorts - Primark
Shoes - Primark (very old and need replacing...)
Necklaces - eBay / Forever 21

I'll be in London when this post is uploaded, going to my first event! Very exciting! I'm going to try to vlog it to share the experience. I don't actually know anyone going to this event as I'm pretty new to blogging, so I'm a little nervous! But with free cocktails and canapes, I'm sure I'll be just fine! I'm actually just about to plan my outfit (I wrote this on Tuesday evening), I'm so indecisive so it will probably take me all night!

Anyhow! I wore this outfit out on the weekend; I just wanted to be comfortable, but look presentable at the same time! I also wanted to give these lace shorts from Primark their first wear. I was a bit unsure about them at first shape wise, as I don't think they do much for my figure - but I'm lace addicted at the moment! Well... lace and crochet! Honestly, I want to buy everything lace or crochet I see (clothes wise!). I've told myself that these shorts and the skirt in my last post are enough - as I literally have no money at the moment. Although I did just order an amazing pair of wedges... oops... but they were only £20 (with delivery)! I'll show you guys them when they arrive!

Hope you're all having a nice week!
Yesterday I took a little trip to Matalan with my boyfriend, I actually intended to pick up some plain tops for holiday. Instead I came back with a cute, duck egg blue bag and a cream, lace skirt.

The bag was £8, as soon as I saw it I loved it. As pastels are in at the moment, I thought this would be the perfect accessory to brighten up my outfits. I have a boring tendency to stick to neutral colours and black most of the time. They also sold this in bright red and tan too. I can see them selling out quickly as the colours are lovely, they're perfectly sized, and, of course, they're a bargain!

I found the skirt in the teen girls section (if you're on a budget and are a size UK 10 -possibly 12- or under, go have a rummage!). I picked up a small and an x-small (other sizes were 12-13 yrs, 8 yrs etc.- confusing!). The x-small fitted me with a little room to spare. Although it was labelled £12, I was actually only charged £8 at the till! I'm not such a fan of the belt attached to it -feels a bit feeble! But I have plenty of others to replace it.

Oddly the skirt is by Hooch... me and my boyfriend were saying how we thought this was a chav(ish) brand from about 5 years ago or so! Very odd! I'm guessing Matalan bought the brand?!

If you're more of an online shopper, then they have the bag in tan online. The skirt can also be bought online too - although they're out of some of the larger sizes (that may fit us thrifty non-teens) unfortunately! It also looks a different colour on the website - so I'm not sure if there are different colourways. Anyone else picked up some gems in Matalan recently?

(Truest colour of the bag in 1st image!)

Firstly, sorry for the blog neglect. I've been ill, then revising, then procrastinating (seemingly never ending circle?!). I have exams coming up, so I'm trying to keep up with blogging as much I possibly can (especially whilst procrastinating...).

I wanted to just let you all know that I'm starting to use my 'shop' now. You see my links on right column? My shop link is just there. I've actually titled it the Mayday Outlet, as it's basically clothes or shoes that I've never got round to wearing / don't fit me / I don't need (most of which I'll be very sad to see go...)! I've just listed my first product, some JC Foxy Glittery Gold lookalikes in a Eur 39 (a size UK6, but may also fit a large 5). They've never been worn, only tried on. I'm only shipping to the UK and won't be accepting returns - apologies if this is annoying, but it's the easiest way! They're just £18.99 and completely new... and gorgeous - bye bye lovely shoes :(.

Let's just enjoy the glittery delightfulness of these shoes for a moment...

Good luck to everyone else with exams, I hope you all have a nice weekend! I'm off to The Cheesecake Shop tomorrow, so I hope to be sharing some photos with you next week as I'm hoping to share with you all some of the things I do in my life!
If you haven't been shopped in Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham or Sheffield before... shame on you! I can vouch that the latter 3 are great cities for shopping, unfortunately I haven't had the chance to shop in Manchester yet - but I've heard great things. If you haven't shopped in these cities, you may have been missing out on one shop in particular - a brilliant vintage shop called Cow. I came across the shop after rifling through a few vintage shops in Nottingham. I'm sure a lot of people have heard of Cow, but I'm sure there are a lot who haven't too!

Cow really stood out to me as they sell numerous reworked pieces, some of which are really quite unique and different. With current style icon Rita Ora spotted in their Birmingham store, you know Cow is something special! I've not yet bought any Cow goodies, but that's because I mostly shop online. So here's the good news...

Cow  have a website! This was a majorly exciting revelation to me when I came across it a couple of months ago. Hunting through their online shop today, I've come across so many pieces that I thought were ideal for festivals / summer / holidays and are under £20.

I'm definitely going to pop into the Nottingham store in the coming weeks to have a gander at their lovely reworked pieces in particular. To avoid overloading you all with pictures, I've picked out just 3 of my favourite reworked items from their online shop. Click the images to go to the product.

(Appologies for the awful editing - I was having a bit of a slob day when I did it! Also, I have in no way been paid or asked to write this post, I just wanted to share the wonder of Cow with you!)

Jumper - Random shop in Nottingham
Shorts - Levi (DIY)
Ring - Dorothy Perkins
Boots - Topshop
Lipstick - Maybelline Moisture Extreme in Royal Red

I had a bit of an off-the-cuff trip to Leicester with my boyfriend yesterday - I was good and bought nothing but a cinnamon pretzel... they're heavenly! Good thing I didn't spend much money really, as we booked a holiday this morning - very exciting, as I haven't been on holiday properly in years!

I must admit, I didn't really like the flag print clothing trend until I spotted this little gem in a random, cheap shop I like to pop into now and again for a bargain. It was only a tenner and for some reason the crochet knit part appealed to me - it only seems right to team it with some Levi shorts for my outfit!

I don't have any exciting plans for the bank holiday, but I really need to start revision, so I expect I'll be sat in my PJs most days making mind maps - wohoo! Has anyone got any exciting plans?
