Here we are - the first designer dress I've ever worn! I've got nothing against designer pieces - I just can't afford them. Well, I can't afford to buy them... Wish Want Wear contacted me about their service, which offers online dresses to hire to those of us who can't afford to own that designer number or maybe tend to wear a dress once anyway. I fit into both categories here. I'm definitely not willing to fork out a few hundred quid on a dress, plus I'm bit funny about wearing dresses more than once to big occasions (shame on me, but I think most of you will feel similarly!).

I attended a wedding reception last week, the perfect opportunity for me to give hiring a dress a go. I chose this dress by Tibi as the skater style is ideal for food babies and alcohol consumption and the exposed back was a little bit adventurous for me, so I was seriously excited for it to arrive. As expected, the quality of the dress was super. I styled it with black and gold accessories to keep things simple. I find it pretty hilarious that I wore a £410 dress with some Primark and eBay accessories! But the dress makes the outfit seem rather special. This dress costs £65 to hire for 4 days. I think that's super for graduation, prom or any other fancy do. Plus, there's very little chance that anyone else will be wearing the same dress as you - bonus! And no faffing with dry cleaning (or finding space for it in your wardrobe), you just post the dress back after you've worn it.

Now for the exciting part - Wish Want Wear have given me the chance to let one of you hire any dress of your choice from their selection for free! Wahoooo! The season of graduations and proms is approaching, so this is such a fab chance for one of you to don a Cavalli, Missoni or even Temperley dress for nothing! Or, you could just wear it to walk the dog and pretend to be one of the Made in Chelsea lot for 4 days, equally cool. Just enter using the Rafflecopter entry form below :)

I can't believe I haven't posted an outfit including these trousers yet. I've worn them to uni so much since buying them in the H&M sale a few months back - people probably actually think these are my snazzy silk-ay pjs that I rock up in. The reason they've been glued to my pins is that they're sooo divine to wear. I never use that word in a serious sense, but here I feel it's an appropriate situation to do so. Thank fashion for loose trousers. When it was colder, I popped my Primark super cosy tights under these and was toastie warm. Now it's not so chilly they're even more ideal - throw them on with some flats and a plain tee and I'm good to go. I say flats because I did actually wear these with Converse, only for them to brutally blister my feet, so I actually couldn't bear to put them back on to take these photos after I got back from the library... yep. That bad. - I thought you were my friends archaic Converse. Maybe they're too old (must have had them since I was 16)... and a bit mouldy (not even lying. The things that thrive in student housing is vile).

Chuckling at my Mystic Meg glance at the top. Peculiar indeed. Well, I've got a jam packed couple of days ahead of me! And a jam packed month in general to be honest. Exam, another essay... job hunting. Ending uni is terrifying. I kid you not! Hope you all have super-duper weekends :)

Ps. I did my roots - wahoo! You can vote for me in category 9 of the Company Style Blogger Awards 2013 'Best Thrifty Blog'! <3

Mad luv for this top. I saw it in Primark a good couple of weeks back. It was 'I. NEED. YOU.' at first sight. The slouchy fit, the print, the £6 price tag - it was just spot on, bargain-alicious. Somehow, I didn't buy it that day though, I thought I'd give myself a little bit of time to mull it over - uh huh, a super risky decision when it comes to Primark as things come and go in that place like.. well, let's not go there. But it was fate - when I nipped into the store the other day it was still there. I had to size down twice as it's literally mahoosive fitting, but I like that it's wearable as a top or a dress.

As for the H&M bag, again, fate led me to this little bay-bay (well, I like to tell myself that...). H&M had put on quite the spread of these bags in a selection of white, black and neon orange. As tempted as I was to go for the white version, I wear enough monochrome as it is, so I thought the traffic cone-ish shade of the orange would be a better choice. I have literally no small bags so for £9.99 this had to be mine! The colour hasn't photographed too well (darn neon!) but it's really, really bright!

Well, tonight I'm off to see a midnight viewing of Iron Man 3 at the IMAX. Kind of ties in with the outfit eh! I wish it was acceptable to take a sleeping bag, but alas, I must appear normal and not embarrass my boyfriend. Copious amounts of caffeine will be consumed so that I can stay awake until 12 and then for the whole film (party animal here).

Don't forget, you can vote for me to be Best Thrifty Blogger of 2013 in Company's Style Blogger Awards here! I'm in category 9 - after clicking robynmayday.com just head to the final page and click 'submit'!

Heyyyy guess who's just handed in her dissertation - me! Yes me, I did it! Wahooo! Although the joy is short-lived. I have a 5000 word project due in two weeks, thanks third year. On a WAY more positive note - if you saw my little ps. at the end of the last post you'll know this already, but I've been shortlisted for Best Thrifty Blogger in Company's 2013 Style Blogger Awards! I'm over Jupiter about it (even further than the moon) as it is, but if any of you would be so kind as to vote for me, robynmayday.com in category 9, then I'd be over Saturn! Thank you to anyone whose already voted or is voting now! (- exclamation mark city. Genuinely well excited though!)

I genuinely can't believe this top is just £8 - that's my kinda top! I've seen similar styles on the highstreet for around double that figure, just goes to prove that shopping online can definitely pay off! It's kind of a thin sweatshirt material and I feel pretty Fame-fabulous in it! It's so comfortable and looks super with high waisted gear. I even let my hair be a bit frizz-ay here - even more 80s ;)

Hope you've had a fab Monday!

Waheeey! I hacked away at some denim! I've even recorded a 'how to' video for this one. Basically, since buying my Joni jeans, these Internacionale jeans have become a bit redundant. So to give them a new lease of life, I decided to snip some holes in the knees and distressed them a little. Apparently, it's all the rage at the moment - well, Topshop are selling them anyway.. for a hefty £40. But if you've got some old jeans this is obviously free (although, I did have to go out and buy a grater... watch the video if that's confused you ha!).

As you can see, I got a bit crazy at the thigh... that was supposed to just be a light bit of distressing, but apparently my grater was vicious. Oh well, thigh revealage it is. My parents will definitely laugh at these jeans - especially my dad. He has always found distressed jeans hilarious. (I understand their sentiments though. Why would you buy jeans that are ruined?! Especially when you can make them for free ;) eh!)

It's my first go at a DIY vid so apologies that my hair gets in the way at some (vital) points.. oops. If there's anything I forgot to mention or if you have any questions, let me know :) but it's seriosuly quick and easy to do (as you can probably guess, haha!).

UPDATE: OH EM GEE. I'm in the shortlist for Best Thrifty Blog in the Company Style Blogger awards. Woah. If you guys could spare a vote for me (category 9) I'd really be so grateful. You can skip the other categories Mum and Dad (haha). I've placed my votes in all 9 :) Thank you in advance kind'uns <3

Well, today I ventured out of the house to some shops. Seeing as I've been glued to my laptop on the joyous Word for the past few days, it was strange to see pigeons again (I was going to say humans, but I realised, I have housemates who I've seen a bit). It was only (originally) a trip to pick up some shoes really for a wedding do I've got coming up soon, but I ended up buying some more bits...  a comic strip top from Primark and a neon orangey coralish bag from H&M (I Instagrammed them so click the links to see!). Oops. This was supposed to be a no-spending-month, but I've nealy finished my dissertation, so that makes it ok, right?!

How cute is this top?! I'm not one for sheer things usually, but this has a handy panel at the front that means your bra doesn't have to be on show - result (call me a prude haha). It really makes me think of the 90s and school discos - very nostalgic and of course on trend! I'm not usually one for girly prints like hearts, but I liked the idea of toughening it up with a pleather skirt, I'm liking the pleathery-hearty goodness.

Ps. My cameras still not working with my remote shutter still - wahh! I've ordered a new remote that will hopefully work, so sorry if these are a bit out of focus! Manual focus isn't my forte!

After all the fun of the Circus on Wednesday (well, aren't I hilarious!), on Thursday I headed up to Manchester to attend Pretty Little Thing Bloggers' event. I must say, I was a little surprised to see a restaurant, Rosso, as the venue on the invite, but once I got there - woah. This is one special restaurant! The interior is was incredible!
For the first hour we nattered about blogs, clothes, the Pretty Little Thing brand and the pieces out in display. It was great to meet some bloggers I'd chatted to on Twitter and to see Laura (from Lola Cola Kate) again. We also got to talk to Adam and Umar who own the brand (their family also own Boohoo... not only that but they also run Rosso restaurant. Pretty amazing eh!), Toni who is the stylist and Zelta from Wingfield PR. They were all really interested our blogs and passionate about the brand - thank you to you all! After mooching about we were treated to dinner (and shots... and wine!). The food was spot on, I'd definitely recommend giving the restaurant a visit if you live in Manchester.

Neon, denim and monochrome featured strongly and the collection. There were lots of Wildfox Bel Air style sunnies dotted about, each pair had their own quirkiness to them. My favourite accessories were on the table I've photographed at the top - I adored that black bag with the gold chain edging! Plus, the neons mixed in with the monochrome make a perfect summer-suitable twist on the trend. The acid wash dungarees are also ideal for summer and have a really cool 80s vibe!

If you have a cheeky look at PrettyLittleThing.com you'll see that it's all brilliantly priced - right up my street (and yours I bet)! Plus, they're currently offering 30% off with the code 'APRIL30' - cards at the ready! I can't wait to see their full summer collection up on the site!

Oh I'm late to the galaxy print party, aren't I? I hope I'm still allowed in. I love this take on the print. Although green isn't my usual colour of choice, I actually think this blouse is surprisingly complimentary to my paleness - cheers green spaceyness. I'll have to give green a chance more often. Plus, I think this is the first colourful thing I've worn in TIME man! I've become a right old monochrome and neutrals addict, so I'm pleased to finally reveal me in colour. Wahoo! You can get 30% off everything on Pretty Little Thing at the moment using the code APRIL30 - even more wahoo-y!

You might notice the ends of my hair are slightly pink here. In our AX Paris goodie bags we got some coloured hairspray (remember that from your childhood?! If not, you've been neglected from this magical thing.) so I decided to try it out the very next day. Here's my hair with a pink dip dye thing goin' on if you missed it on my Instagram. If I use it again I'll put some proper photos up as it's so easy to do!

I'm currently lol-ing at the poor outcome of these photos. Set up my tripod, camera, remote shutter as you do... took some photos (including a close up of my fab little Bohemian Collective above knuckle ring and a pleather jacket)... popped them onto my laptop and half of them were out of focus. Terrific. Hence the 2cm movement of my body from the first photo to the next - haha! Although, it's not surprising as my new camera doesn't seem to like the lighting situation in my room so I've started to have to use flash.. eeek (personally, I really hate standard flash for portraits - it looks too full on, but it'll have to do!).

Hope you're all having a fab weekend. This is the one for my dissertation. Must be finito by tomorrow so I have plenty of time to edit it and get it bound - gulp!

Call me keen. I attended the AX Paris event last night and I'm blogging about it just over 12 hours later! But seriously, this really stood out from the other events that I've been to (not that I've been to many, but still.. hear me out!). It took place in Circus, which turned out to be a really unique venue - a rather foxy lady breathing fire... dancers (of the male kind too!) giving us a series of cool and alternative performances. It's new to me to see entertainment at a bloggers' event so that was exciting!

Aside from the performances, the AX Paris dresses in particular looked beautiful - a mix of party dresses to work suitable numbers. Plus, if you check out the site you'll see that everything is really fairly priced - just my thing!

Of course, I got to meet some fab bloggers, in fact some of my faves including Tasha from So On Trend who is an absolute gem and even came to save me when I got lost on my way to the venue (typical me!). That's us in the photobooth shot - hope you enjoy my lemur-with-a-small-hat-on look. I also got to meet the blog-mazing (I've just made that up) likes of Shabna, Ashleigh, Law (whose fab henna-ed hand that is above - how cool!), Tara and Katy - some seriously super bloggers. A big 'hi again friends!' to everyone else I chatted to as well! Must admit, I'm feeling a little worse for ware today although I only had a few drinks... Oh body, you do make me feel old!

A big thanks to Etail PR, AX Paris and Circus - it was such a stand-out event (if that makes any sense?!).

A little different to my usual videos / posts - a bit more serious chaps! But you still might have a chuckle or too at my oddness in this video!

Anyway, for the post readers out there! After things I've seen today I had to make a video along these lines. There are nasty comments flying about regarding bloggers... and it's unfortunately a growing trend, I'm sure of it. Here, I'm talking about outfit bloggers in particular. These comments aren't from other bloggers (I've not seen that myself, although apparently it happens), but from non-bloggers. Your average web user - mostly women, from behind their bits of tech.

'You call that style?', 'that looks horrid on her', 'that looks awful' 'why would you wear that when you're that size', 'I'd NEVER wear that ergh' - all things I've seen in regards to outfit bloggers' photos recently. Despite their arguments, I truly don't believe these people would say these things in 'real life'. After all, their comments are often directed at complete strangers. I hate thinking that women are out there to upset others and I'm horrified by these comments. This is a really grim side of the internet. I'm not saying 'us poor old outfit bloggers'- it's more a question of women being supportive of one another, as Sheri said in her post about some nastiness that she'd seen towards bloggers. Snide comments will get you no where in life. We've probably all made the occasional one - in all honesty, I know I have and I've instantly felt guilty. But women who persistently do this damage women as a group.

I know you beauties who read my blog aren't those sorts - but it'd be grand if you could all help spread the word! Oh and nasty ones - if you are reading - on the web, there's that red cross button. Y'all seem to be unaware of that one. If you don't like someones blog, outfit, body, or whatever, that button is there for a reason. Use it.

(Ps. Do you like my telling-off-face?)

Y u so glum chum? Had to make this post a bit more jovial by throwing my crazy face in there. Hope you all appreciate that one. And yeah I jumped on the new blogger thang - I got me some Topshop Joni Jeans. I chose black - it's my colour, as we all know, in the petite length - 28". I'm not that short (around 5ft 4) but I got that long body, short legs thing going on. These fit just right. The rise seems a bit lower on me than it's looked on other bloggers (I'm not sure if that's because of the long bod or the petite fit! Maybe a combo), but I'm pleased nonetheless. I gave in and bought them with my student discount as I won't have it for much longer - weep! By the way - they've resolved that white stitching palaver now too! Thanks Topshop - although, the girls in the changing rooms were kinda rude to me. Ashamed I went on to purchase them in the end. I truly hate bad customer service!

Oh, and those are the shoes I bought to ease me into wearing flats / tell the sun it's time to emerge! I literally never wear flats. I'm always in boots. So these feel odd to wear, but I love the style. They remind me of those Vans slip ons - I used to wear them religiously, my god they were so comfy, but I felt like I was wearing flippers...

And the title is appropriate here as I had to substitute this coat with my fur one as there was one hell of an intense Arctic breeze outside! Definitely wishful thinking of the weather donning my 'spring coat'.... despite it actually being spring.

No, I'm not having you on - this dress was a fiver. Well actually, just under... £4.38 to be exact - with postage. I don't even know how I came across it. I was just pointlessly browsing eBay one day (...everyday) and this popped up on my search. I couldn't believe my peepers! It's that polo neck style thang going on and I love the cut out shoulders - it makes it a little more original than you're average little black number.

Quick note: If you're thinking of buying this bargain (or, in fact, any other goods from Eastern Asian countries) keep in mind that sizes in these countries tend to run smaller. Take note of the measurements in the item listing! I bought a medium based on the measurements given (I'm usually a 10 in dresses for reference). It's a tad short, but as you can see from the final picture, it looks equally fab with a skirt over it! I think I'll be wearing it that way most of the time as my long body / bootay combo make it a tad too mini-dress-ish for me to actually feel clothed!

The seller I bought from is based in China. I'm a bit hesitant of buying from overseas as I've had crappy experiences in my early eBay days. But I decided this bargain was too good to miss out on, even if this was a bit crappy too - a bit of a 'why not' moment! It took its time to arrive, but it made it all the way to my letter box eventually! The seller I bought it from no longer has the black version, but they do have the same polo neck dress in grey. Otherwise, I've linked to other sellers who have this in black still above. As for ordering from China again, I'm just too impatient. I think... but having said that, there are many more bargains to be had...!
